This gate is the instinct for what should last: the conservative wisdom of the body, the fear of failing what matters. In shadow, fear of failure freezes everything. In gift, it becomes preservation: continuity honored, change metabolized slowly and well.
The practice is to distinguish the timeless from the merely old. Some things deserve protection; some deserve composting. Failure, seen clearly, is only nature adjusting course. A life that tends the essential across time learns veneration, reverence for the stream that carries all forms.
