Nourishing Care

Care that feeds others first, tending the whole web of life.

This is the gate of nourishment, the instinct to feed what is young, weak, or growing. Its shadow is selfishness, hoarding care or caring to control. Its gift is altruism: nourishment flowing where it is needed, wisdom deciding the portions.

The practice is to include yourself among those you feed; depleted caretakers sour their gifts. Then widen the circle slowly: family, community, the web of life itself. Care matured loses its bookkeeping, gives without a giver, and that unowned generosity is selflessness.
